Can the washing machine be transported lying down?
Washing machines are usually transported upright. However, due to certain circumstances, there may be no other choice. This does not mean that you have to transport it lying on its side.
Do not allow this under any circumstances, as you risk breaking a cable on the machine or disconnecting the drum, which is not fixed. The internal parts of the machine are supported by a suspension system.
A strong impact will damage some of these components when the washing machine is placed on its side. Whenever possible, always transport the washing machine in an upright position, even if it is brand new.

Automatic models have two main parts: an internal and an external one. The first one collects the water, its position is fixed and does not move. Meanwhile, the drum is where you place your clothes. It rotates during washing or spinning.
When you place the washing machine on its side, these two parts collide with each other, which leads to damage. When transporting the appliance, the suspension system is also damaged. It is responsible for supporting the drum.
The shipping bolts stabilize the tubs of front-loading washing machines during transportation. They are removed before the machine is used for the first time. However, when you need to transport the appliance to your new home, you need to reinsert them.
Even if you have lost the original transport bolts, the washing machine can be placed lying on its back. This is the only option for transporting it in this case.

The best and safest way to transport your washing machine is to place it in its original carton, along with all of its protective wrapping. You can purchase additional material to protect the machine if you no longer have the factory packaging.
Don't forget to protect the corners and side panels to prevent damage during transportation. How to transport your old washing machine:
