Some of the most common dryer problems

Dryer problems can cause a lot of headaches for any homeowner. If timely measures are not taken, you risk losing the services of one of the most used household appliances in the modern family.

The dryer is making strange noises or vibrating

The likely culprit for this problem is a damaged dryer drum seal or drum rollers. However, it could also be due to excessive overloading or objects accidentally falling into the appliance while loading.

Open the door and turn the drum by hand. Check if there is still noise coming from inside the appliance. Pay attention to the movement of the drum when you turn it by hand. If it gets stuck, then you should contact a qualified service center.

The dryer works but does not heat the air

A blown thermal fuse (heater) is one of the most common failures. This is what prevents the dryer from heating, even though it is working. The accumulation of lint in the exhaust vent is another possibility for such a problem. This can lead to overheating of the appliance and burning of the heater. These are the main reasons that lead to the problem where the dryer does not heat. If you suspect that the dryer heater needs to be replaced, please contact us. Another main problem with dryers with heat pump drying technology is the following.

Heat pump dryers contain a refrigerant (freon), if this refrigerant has dropped to a low level, the dryer will perform the drying cycle but the clothes will not be dry and the programs will be extended. This can be solved by a refrigeration technician or by replacing the heat pump system. When the freon level drops,  is due to a leak in the system that must be repaired before refilling with refrigerant. Always request a warranty for such repairs due to the fact that the first 15 dryings of clothes are the most risky for the same problem to occur again due to a leak from another location.

The dryer is not working – What exactly is not working for us?

This is one of the main problems that require a service visit. No light, No drum rotation, No drying. There are several other possible reasons why your dryer is not working. One of them could be a broken door switch that is not recognizing that the door is closed. Another option for a similar problem is a failure of the main electronic control board.

A broken power cord, a broken start switch, or a timer can also prevent the dryer from starting. Some dryers use a capacitor to start the motor, if the capacitor's capacity has dropped below the minimum, the motor will not turn over and you will hear a slight humming sound.  If the dryer has an inverter motor, you should listen to see if it spins the clothes or place something in the drum and check after 1 minute if it has spun.

The dryer is working but not drying the clothes

A clogged system is one of the main causes of this problem. In addition, a blocked drain, if it is connected to the drain or the water pump is not working and the appliance gets stuck during operation, can also prevent clothes from drying. If the appliance is not heating, the problem may be a broken heating element.

Clean the clogged lint channels, if any, or contact a specialist who will perform maintenance on your dryer.

The device works, but quickly turns off

There are many reasons why your dryer may stop before it has finished its cycle. Some common problems include a clogged drain (no water is getting into the drum), overheating due to slow drum rotation (if it has a heater), a faulty timer, a broken control module that has faulty relays that do not turn off when signaled by the processor. Overloading the dryer can cause the drive motor to overheat and stop suddenly.

If you have a lot of clothes or towels in the dryer, remove some items to lighten the load. Once the appliance motor has cooled down, it may start functioning normally again.
