What are the reasons for ice formation in the refrigerator? Modern refrigerators are equipped with innovative technologies that increase their functionality. However, quite often users complain that the appliances form more ice than necessary. The malfunction is particularly unpleasant because it affects the condition of the food products stored in the refrigerator. The damage may be minor, but you need to be sure of its origin. There are several possible variants of the malfunction. Most of the modern refrigerators are equipped with the so-called No Frost system. Its role is to prevent the formation of condensate and to obtain 360° blowing of the products. There are also refrigerators offered without such a system. Ice is often observed on the inner walls in them. The “culprit” for such a problem may be a poor seal on the appliance door, which does not allow the door to close tightly. Thus, warmer air enters the refrigerator, and moisture sticks to the inner walls. This reason for the appearance of ice is one of the most harmless and can be checked by any owner. It is enough to run your hand along the door seal to make sure that no air enters the appliance. You can prevent the appearance of ice in the interior yourself by cleaning the insulating rubber every few months. It is recommended to use a clean and soft cloth that you have moistened in advance for such prevention. You should not forget about other factors affecting the operation of the refrigerator. It should be well leveled, placed away from heating appliances or stoves. A possible reason for the appearance of ice may also be the overloading of the interior. It is recommended that the stored products do not occupy more than 2/3 of the volume of the refrigerator. Another possible reason for the icing inside the appliance should not be overlooked. Freon is used in refrigerators. Its function is to cool, while at the same time absorbing heat. When a leak occurs in this part of the refrigerator where the freon is located, the cooling of the appliance does not function properly and the inner walls become icy. Most users do not suspect that one of the possibilities for such a problem is a clogged drain hole. It is located inside, near the back wall under the drawers. This problem is not serious and you can handle its solution yourself. The drain is small, and gradually becomes clogged with dirt and food that has fallen into it. A clogged hole leads to icing on the inside of the refrigerator. Cleaning it is easy and does not require special technical knowledge. In some modern refrigerator models, the drain hole is equipped with special tweezers. But, if the blockage is more serious, take a long one (a mouse tail or something of this size and insert it into the hole). A much more serious test is the failure of the No Frost system. The malfunction of the appliance can also be due to a worn-out timer, sensor or a faulty No Frost fan. They are also part of the No Frost system. In case your refrigerator is equipped with a similar function, the best option is to seek the services of a proven home appliance service. Only professional repair of the No Frost system, as well as full preventive maintenance of the appliance, can guarantee its trouble-free operation in the future. After eliminating such a problem, it is a good idea to defrost the entire refrigerator with the freezer section for 24 hours and then clean it and let it work again. Cooling will appear after at least 2.3 hours of operation from the start
