Is washing with cold water enough for cleaner clothes?

If you reduce the degrees of the washing machine 's operating cycle, you achieve several effects. On the one hand, you save money, due to lower energy consumption. The second effect is ecological. And last but not least, you can have just as clean clothes, even at lower temperatures of the washing machine's operating cycle.
These are the main factors that would make you choose cold water washing . By the way, modern washing machines can work at lower temperatures. Modern appliances are not only equipped with cold water programs. Many detergents have enzymes that work at temperatures up to 15 degrees.
Cold water is suitable for most clothes. The washing result will be the same as if you washed with hotter water. It can remove many stains from clothes, including grass on jeans or makeup stains on thicker sweaters.
Delicate fabrics, such as lace and silk, as well as dark or colored laundry, are suitable for cold water cycles. Keep in mind that not all stains are removed at higher washing temperatures. For example, various marks  can harden in clothes when washed with hot water.
Additionally, higher temperatures shrink, fade, or wrinkle most fabrics. By not heating the water in your washing machine, you can reduce your energy costs with each load. Approximately 75 to 90 percent of all the energy your machine uses is used to heat the water. So switching to a lower cycle temperature will definitely reduce your monthly energy bill.
Washing clothes in cold water is less likely to shrink, fade, or damage them. The lower temperature of the cycle prevents fabrics from becoming wrinkled. This in turn saves time and energy that you would otherwise have to invest in ironing.
However, sometimes warm or hot water works better depending on the fabric or need. Knits and synthetic fabrics, such as spandex, nylon, polyester, and silk blends, wash more easily at higher temperatures. If the goal is to disinfect, using a hot water cycle for clothes and linens can help prevent the spread of germs.
Climate conditions also play a role. In cold weather areas where the water in the sewage system is 4 degrees or lower in winter, detergents may not work well. In such cases, it is necessary to select a cycle with higher temperature values.
If you are not sure whether a fabric should be washed in warm or cold water, read the label. Most clothing labels have a washing symbol. It looks like a square bathtub with a wavy water line. The symbol has numbers or dots, with the number indicating the highest temperature allowed for washing, while the dots represent the following values:
One dot means 30℃
Two for 40℃
Three for 50℃
Four for 60℃
Five for 70℃
Six for 95℃
Washing in cold water may be the best choice. First check the label of the clothes, then the degree of their soiling.
