Sometimes it happens that detergent or fabric softener is left in the washing machine drawer. This can be due to various reasons and is usually not a sign of a serious problem with the appliance. There are several options for such a nuisance, which every homeowner is able to deal with.
One of them is a clogged automatic dispenser (drawer) for a washing machine. It is necessary to regularly check and clean it so that the softener does not accumulate, which over time affects and molds the drawer itself. A clogged small hole in the powder drawer is among the more harmless causes of such a problem.
The detergent can also harden in the detergent container, clogging the plastic holes. Clean the washing machine drawer periodically with a soft cloth or water from the sink, which will prevent the possibility of clogging and ensure the smooth operation of the appliance.
A possible reason for the softener not being accepted is low water pressure. In this case, the hoses should be checked for cold water, connected to the plumbing system. They can also become clogged with rust, which leads to the inability of the softener to be received by the washing machine for no other reason than low water pressure.
To check the hoses, it is advisable to turn off the water supply to the appliance from the wall tap. Remove the hose from the washing machine using suitable tools. Clean the filters on the appliance and then reinsert them.
Among the possible reasons for the washing machine not accepting softener is an overfilling of the detergent drawer. The compartment intended for detergents is connected to a corrugated hose which, if clogged, will return it from the drawer. When it is overflowing, the siphon immediately distributes the softener into the drum. Do not be alarmed if there is water in the softener compartment and it is full at the end of the program, this is how the appliance works (IT IS NORMAL) – it takes the softener by adding water. Just check the drawer for dirt or low pressure of clean water.
A much more worrying reason for the softener remaining in the drawer is the inability to reach the appropriate step of the selected cycle, where the detergent is taken into the drum. Such a problem requires you to seek help from a service center or clean the filter of the appliance. It is very likely that it cannot pump the water and does not reach the softener taking step, which is the last step of the program.
