The washing machine door will not lock or open
Parts for Household Appliances
The most common problem with a washing machine door is related to its opening after the end of the cycle. Such a failure is not one of the most serious, but it is extremely unpleasant. The inability to open the door will prevent you from removing clothes from the drum. Thus, the laundry can remain in the appliance long after the end of the cycle.
If your washing machine door won't close or lock properly, then the problem is usually with the door lock. The damage could also be due to a defect in the door release mechanism. You should pay attention to the movement of the door – does it move smoothly or does it not allow you to close it.
The problem may lie in the hinge of the hatch. But quite often the damage to the door is also due to a leak in the heater. If there is such a problem, under no circumstances should you pull the handle when the appliance does not open.

To restore the normal operation of the door, it is necessary to replace the handle if it seems loose. If you cannot do it yourself, look for someone who understands or a service center. They will check the hatch and its lock. If there is a problem, the necessary spare parts will be replaced, then a new locking system is installed. The rubber seal is also installed again.
If it is necessary to replace the handle with the closing mechanism, the door must be disassembled. It is located between the inner and outer parts of the hatch. To replace the locking mechanism, the door must be divided into two halves. It is necessary to unscrew the retaining screws. Then the mechanism itself can be replaced.
By the way, the inability to open the door is one of the most unpleasant malfunctions that you may encounter when operating the appliance. To deal with such a problem, you need to contact the service center.

If the hatch does not open even when the water in the appliance is pumped out properly, this may be due to a faulty pressure switch. A similar problem also occurs when the system is clogged, which leads to the retention of air, through which the hatch lock is controlled.
In some washing machines the pressure switch must be reset. Otherwise the door lock is left energized. The appliance must then be disconnected from the power supply. This should allow the door lock to cool down and after a few minutes the door can be opened again. Please note that it may take some time for the locks to release at the end of the cycle.
The most common reason for a locked door is water remaining in the drum. Then try starting a new cycle. If this does not help, the water inside the appliance can be removed by placing the drain hose of the washing machine lower than the drum, where a container can be placed to collect the liquid. A possible reason for the unexpected locking of the hatch after the end of the cycle is a broken handle.
