How to wash sneakers in a washing machine
Many people don't want to or don't know how to wash their sneakers in the washing machine. The reasons for this are varied. According to many of them, sneakers are too dirty to be put in the washing machine with clothes. But you should know that most types of sports shoes can be cleaned in this way.
It also matters what material the sneakers are made of. If the sneakers are made of nylon or natural fabric, then you will not have any problems with washing them. It is not recommended to clean sneakers that are made of artificial leather or mesh fabric in this way. They can only be cleaned by hand.
It is also advisable to choose an appropriate spin program. It should be designed for delicate fabrics. It is recommended to wash your sneakers with cold water. After the end of the cycle, leave the sneakers to dry on the terrace or in the yard. Do not put them in a dryer, so as not to damage the fabric they are made of.
To wash your sneakers, you need to remove the laces. You probably know that such accessories can clog the drain channel of the appliance. Very often, laces from clothes or buttons fall into the inner part of the drum. And this can lead to problems with the operation of the appliance in the future.

Place the laces of your sneakers separately in a special mesh laundry bag. Also remove the insoles of your sneakers. Inspect them carefully. If the insoles are very worn, it is better to clean them by hand first before putting them in the washing machine. You should not put sneakers that have dried dirt or grass on them in the drum.
Make sure to remove any stubborn dirt, as it can settle in the washing machine. This will not only result in poor cleaning of the sneakers, but may also affect the performance of the machine in the future. Use a wet sponge or towel to remove dirt from the soles.
Spray your sneakers with a stain remover spray before putting them in the wash. This is especially true if your sneakers are dirty with mud or have heavy soiling on the fabric. The spray is a great solution for treating lighter-colored sneakers.
Put your laceless sneakers in the washing machine with some other laundry. It is not advisable to leave the drum of the machine almost empty. You can also put some of your older sweaters, blankets or towels in with the sneakers. Put clothes in the drum that you do not care about so much.
Don't forget to put your shoelaces in a mesh bag before you turn on the machine. This accessory is invaluable, especially in this case. The mesh fabric of the bag filters the detergent. This cleans the laces themselves, while at the same time preventing them from getting tangled around the shoes. If you don't have a mesh bag, then use an old pillowcase.

Pour a small amount of detergent into the appliance drawer. Do not use too much detergent to clean the sneakers. Select the cold water option and the most delicate cycle possible. Make sure that the washing machine is set to run this programme. Set the lowest possible spin speed. The water temperature, in this case, should be a maximum of 20 °C.
Avoid putting your sneakers in the dryer after taking them out of the washing machine. As tempting as it may be to wear them within an hour, sneakers can become deformed from drying at too high a temperature.
Instead, let them dry gradually. You can place them on a windowsill, on the terrace, or even in front of a fan. You can also dry them under the air conditioner if you can't wait to wear your already washed sneakers. Keep in mind that it can take several hours for the sneakers and laces to dry. But then you can put your favorite sneakers back on, and they will be as good as new after you've cleaned them in the washing machine.
