Replacing a stovetop burner
Many consumers in the domestic market prefer stoves of the "Rahovets" type. They are functional and do not take up much space. The classic version has two hotplates and an oven below them. Freestanding stoves also have a similar layout. Regardless of whether they are gas or fully electric, such appliances have at least two hotplates.
Even if you have bought a more expensive stove, you should maintain it well and perform regular maintenance. In most appliances, the main problem is related to the damage of one of the hotplates. Its replacement is necessary if you want to use the stove for a longer time. By the way, there are two types of hotplates. The older ones and still preferred by some customers are cast iron ones. They are not as energy efficient as the other type. In addition, cast iron hotplates heat up more slowly.
More expensive hobs are preferred by modern housewives. Their price is slightly higher than that of cast iron. But the repair of fast-heating ones is cheaper, unlike the other type. The hobs of ceramic stoves are incomparably more durable if we compare them with cast iron ones. Last but not least, fast-heating ones fully justify their name. With them, cooking becomes extremely easy and in a much shorter time.
One of the most important parts of replacing a hob is finding out what model and type you will need. Hobs come in different sizes. Some are more powerful than others. They are also designed for specific stove models. Hobs also come in different sizes. You need to be sure of what type of hob you will need in order for the repair to be effective.
On the Internet you can find enough information about the types of hobs that are sold in the better online stores. The only thing you need to enter is the model of your cooker. And yet, how can you change a hob?
The cast iron ones are bolted to the appliance. At the same time, the fast-heating ones are located under the ceramic hob. First of all, you should think about safety. Disconnect the stove from the power supply before repairing and arm yourself with the necessary tools for dismantling.
It is much more difficult to remove the burner from the "Rahovets" type stoves, especially if they are of the cheaper models. For some of them it is necessary to disassemble the entire appliance. For more expensive models, dismantling will not be so laborious.
Remove the screws that hold the hotplate to the stove. You will also need to remove the hob. When you remove the top of the stove, you can turn it over. This will give you easier access to the bottom of the hotplates. Most stove hotplates are connected by a bracket. To remove the damaged hotplate, remove the retaining pin that is fixed to the stove. You will need to unscrew the retaining screws.
The next step is to remove the wiring from the hob connecting it to the stove. You will immediately notice that the individual wires are colored differently. To be on the safe side, you can take a picture with your phone to make it easier for you when installing the new heating plate. This way you will not confuse the different wires when connecting the hob.

The wiring screws are removed with a screwdriver, each of which is fixed to the hotplate and the stove. Now it is time to install the new hob. Next is the connection of the hotplate to the cables. You need to perform the same actions as during the initial dismantling, but this time in reverse order. It will be extremely useful if you have previously taken pictures of the disconnection of the wires and the separation of the old hob.
Don't forget to put the fixing bracket in place and you're almost done. All you have to do is screw the hob to the hob and the stove. Last but not least, you need to make sure that the repair has achieved its goal. Plug the stove into the power supply when you're done installing the new heating plate. The hob should heat up if you've chosen the right model and type for your appliance.
